CTOnews.com October 6 news, wafer foundry today (6) announced the latest revenue in September, monthly revenue of 25.219 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 5.674 billion yuan), a monthly decrease of 0.5%, an annual increase of 34.5%, the second highest in history and the highest in the same period.

In the third quarter, UMC's total revenue reached 75.392 billion New Taiwan dollars (about 16.963 billion yuan), a quarterly increase of 4.63% and an annual increase of 34.85%, setting a record for the 12th consecutive quarter.

CTOnews.com has reported that UMC said at a previous legal conference that it expected shipments of Q3 wafers, ASP would be flat in dollar terms, capacity utilization would remain 100 per cent, and gross profit margin would be 44-46 per cent, down from the second quarter, but could continue to stand above 40 per cent.

Wang Shi, general manager, pointed out at the time that although demand for smartphones, PC and consumer electronics cooled in the third quarter and customers faced inventory corrections, which may bring short-term fluctuations, he was actively working with customers to adjust the product portfolio, including network, industrial, server and automotive demand, which will offset the product areas where demand slows down.

The industry pointed out that the adjustment of the product portfolio of UMC, coupled with the continued high level of capacity utilization and prices, coupled with favorable exchange rate factors, led to better-than-expected operating performance.
