October 11, according to foreign media reports, in September this year, Tesla Model Y beat Volkswagen Golf and Volkswagen Tiguan for the first time to become the best-selling car in Germany.

According to KBA, Tesla Model Y registered 9846 vehicles in September alone, far surpassing the popular German Volkswagen Golf (7095), Volkswagen Tiguan (5887) and Tesla Model 3 (3878), a result that may benefit from increased productivity at the Tesla Berlin superfactory.

On October 1, the Tesla Berlin Super Factory announced a weekly production capacity of 2000 vehicles, making Model Y an unmatched leader in the German auto market and bringing it closer to becoming the best-selling car in the world.

Besides Germany, Tesla Model Y also occupies a dominant position in other markets. For example, this car is the best-selling car in New Zealand and the second best-selling car in the UK.

It is reported that Tesla launched the Model Y in March 2019, and the car will be delivered in the North American market from the first quarter of 2020.

At the annual shareholder meeting last October, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the Model Y should be the best-selling car, a milestone expected to be achieved in 2023, thanks to its four factories: Fremont, Shanghai, Texas and Berlin.

In early August, Musk said that the Model Y is expected to be the best-selling model this year and will remain the best-selling model next year.

In mid-August, the latest data provided by the research institute showed that in the first half of this year, Model Y registered 103215 new electric vehicles in the US market, making it the highest number of electric vehicles registered, followed by Model 3 (97075 newly registered).
