CTOnews.com, October 14, local time on October 11, SEMI released a report that global semiconductor manufacturer 300mm Fab plant production capacity is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 10% (CAGR) from 2022 to 2025, reaching an all-time high of 9.2 million pieces per month.

Strong demand for automotive semiconductors and new government funding and incentive programs in several regions are the main growth factors, the report said.

Currently, GlobalFoundries, Intel, Micron, Samsung, SkyWater Technology, TSMC and Texas Instruments have announced that new Fab plants will be completed and put into operation in 2024 or 2025 to meet growing demand.

CTOnews.com learned that Ajit Manocha, president and CEO of SEMI, said that although the shortage of some chips has been alleviated, the supply of other chips is still tight and the semiconductor industry is expanding the capacity of 300mm Fab plants to lay the foundation for the long-term needs of a wide range of emerging applications.
