CTOnews.com October 15 news, AMD R7 5800X3D game processor went on sale on April 20, priced at 3099 yuan. AMD has confirmed that Ryzen 7 5800X3D does not support overclocking, so the default screen in BIOS obscures all frequency and kernel voltage adjustment options, but there are always a few geeks who like to challenge the impossible.

@ TUM_APISAK found that an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU that overclocked to 5.5GHz appeared in the CPU-Z running score database.

CTOnews.com has reported that someone has overclocked it to 5.15GHz with the help of an AM4 motherboard with an external clock generator, but this is the first time we have seen it overclocked on 5.5GHz.

From the CPU-Z screenshot, the CPU's frequency doubling is adjusted to x55, which means that this is not the standard BCLK overclocking mode. The processor runs at slightly less than 1.3V (1.296V) and runs on the Asustek XROG Crosshair VIII DARK HERO motherboard. BIOS was version 4201 released in April 2022.

AMD has previously admitted that it is working on CPU, a 3D cached version of the new Zen 4 architecture, but the AM4 platform is still a hot seller. A few months ago, it was revealed that AMD was developing a BIOS that might enable OC support on the 5800X3D platform.

However, due to the voltage limitation of 3D cache, AMD did not intend to release the overclocking function of CPU in the first place, but AMD did say that future 3D cache iterative CPU will provide better overclocking capability and is expected to bring faster CPU performance to games.
