Tesla Cybertruck battery pack will be produced in Fremont factory
CTOnews.com, Oct. 19, according to Teslarati, Tesla plans to start making battery packs for the upcoming Cybertruck on a new battery production line at the Fremont plant.
Tesla described the project as "CTA Battery B-Build", according to the document.
Tesla eventually plans to mass-produce the Cybertruck at a super factory in Austin, Texas, but the new Tesla plant outside Austin is not ready to start producing batteries and battery packs.
Earlier this year, Tesla applied to build another battery and cathode manufacturing plant outside the Texas superfactory. Although the project has begun, it may not be ready yet.
Sources confirmed that the Fremont plant, the only Tesla factory that could produce all four cars produced by the company, was eventually chosen to be responsible for the manufacturing of Cybertruck packaging.
It is said that the second floor production line that Tesla applied for in August will be used to produce Cybertruck battery packs. Tesla will adopt the design of 4680 batteries produced at the Kato Road plant or other previously used batteries made at Gigafactory Nevada and apply them to the new Fremont battery production line.
