On October 19, according to foreign media reports, Chung Moo-kyoung, chief technology officer (CTO) of Sapeon, a South Korean artificial intelligence (AI) chip company, said that the company plans to use TSMC's 7nm nodes to produce its new artificial intelligence chip series X330 next year.

In November 2020, SK Telecom launched the AI chip brand Sapeon, and launched its self-developed, South Korea's first AI chip Sapeon X220, the company commissioned TSMC to manufacture Sapeon chips.

It is reported that the Sapeon X220 is used to deal with artificial intelligence tasks faster, and the computing speed of deep learning is 6.7K frames per second, which is 1.5 times that of conventional GPU, while power consumption is reduced by 20 per cent and costs are reduced by 50 per cent.

Last April, Sapeon was spun off from SK Telecom. South Korean media reported that the company plans to start providing 7-nanometer chips next year and plans to generate 2 trillion won in revenue by 2027.
