Why don't you upgrade? Oracle Oracle launches a direct replacement for Java JDK 8 with a 40% performance improvement

CTOnews.com October 20, Oracle Oracle announced the launch of Java SE Subscription Enterprise Performance Pack (Java SE subscription Enterprise performance Pack), bringing the performance boost of JDK 17 to JDK 8.

In its official announcement, Oracle directly said that Java SE subscription Enterprise performance Pack is a direct replacement for JDK 8 and is now available to all Java SE subscribers and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) users at no additional cost.

According to reports, the Java SE subscription Enterprise performance Pack provides JDK 8 users with significant memory management and performance improvements for Java in the seven years between JDK 8 and JDK 17 releases, including modern garbage collection GC algorithms, Compact Strings, enhanced observability, and dozens of other optimizations.

The Java SE subscription Enterprise performance Pack supports headless Linux 64-bit workloads on Intel and Arm-based systems such as Ampere Altra.

Oracle says tests of its own products and cloud services have shown memory and performance improvements of about 40 per cent for high-load applications compared with JDK 8. Even if JDK 8 applications are not running at full load, performance can improve by as much as 5 per cent.
