Excessive antitrust regulation in India: American tech giants "quit"
Beijing, Oct. 24 (Xinhua)-- Google said the decision of India's antitrust regulator to fine it 13.38 billion Indian rupees ($162 million) for its anti-competitive behavior was a "major setback" for consumers and companies in the country.
▲ Google recently, the Indian Competition Commission (CCI) said that Google used its dominant position in the Android mobile operating system platform to "illegally" crowd out competitors of popular apps such as YouTube and Google browser.
In addition to the fine, CCI ordered Google to change its agreements to "sell only" Android devices or "use only" Google software, and restrict it from signing certain revenue-sharing agreements with smartphone makers.
