Reggie_gakil, a user of foreign Reddit forums, was the first to post yesterday that he had an accident when he was playing "Wild Dart 2" with gigabyte RTX 4090 Gaming OC. The 12VHPWR connection interface attached to the graphics card caught fire and destroyed the power supply interface. Then another Reddit user replied to the post, showing a similar problem with the power connector of the Asustek RTX 4090 graphics card.

"We are investigating these reports and we are contacting the first user and will contact another user for more information," Nvidia spokesman Bryan Del Rizzo said in a statement to The Verge.

The power supply interface has also been burnt out. CTOnews.com has learned that at present, Nvidia is equipped with 12+4Pin 12VHPWR interface for the GeForce RTX 40 series based on Ada Lovelace architecture, but the power supply used by most users does not support native 12VHPWR interface, and there are not many power supply models that fully meet the requirements on the market, so manufacturers will accompany the 12VHPWR adapter and replace it with three or four 8Pin interfaces. However, according to Suotai's product introduction, the attached 12VHPWR to four 8Pin interfaces have a "limited service life, up to 30 connections / disconnections".
