The recall is an expansion of the recall of some EQC electric vehicles by Beijing Mercedes-Benz Co., Ltd., which was issued on February 18, 2022.

Starting from December 15, 2022, a total of 3345 EQC electric vehicles were recalled for the period from December 5, 2019 to September 17, 2022. Since February 1, 2023, some EQA and EQB electric vehicles with production dates from February 11, 2020 to October 10, 2022 have been recalled for a total of 8078 vehicles.

CTOnews.com learned that due to the manufacturing deviation of the electric drive module, there may be insufficient sealing in the cooling system in the electric drive module of some vehicles within the scope of this recall, resulting in coolant leakage. If the coolant seeps into the motor, the insulation resistance of the high voltage system may be reduced after long-term use, resulting in the vehicle unable to start. In addition, under extreme conditions, the output power of the electric drive module of the vehicle will be reduced, so there are hidden dangers.

Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will replace the improved electric drive module assembly for vehicles within the recall range free of charge through authorized dealers to eliminate safety risks.

Emergency measures: before vehicle recall and maintenance, users should contact Mercedes-Benz authorized service center in time if they encounter relevant fault information.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz changed the recall of Beijing Mercedes-Benz Motor Co., Ltd. on February 18, 2022 to replace the improved electric drive module assembly for vehicles within the recall range free of charge.
