Nvidia 16pin cable burned down, PCI-SIG requires that a new "12VHPWR" standard be developed before December 6

CTOnews.com November 9, NVIDIA has received several reports of burnout of the RTX 16-pin power cord since the release of the 12VHPWR 4090 video card. Although NVIDIA did not disclose any details to the public, it is reported that the company has made the issue a top priority to resolve as soon as possible.

Pirate ship power expert "JonnyGuru" believes that the problem lies in user operation errors. He believes that the user may not have fully plugged in the 16-pin "12VHPWR" connector, which can lead to problems with the connector itself and, in serious cases, wire melting.

But he also points out that any 12VHPWR connector can burn out because any one of them is difficult to plug in.

In addition, PCI-SIG has issued a new notice suggesting that we may see new 16-pin "12VHPWR" cables by December 6, 2022.

CTOnews.com has reported that several users have reported burning down the power cord in Nvidia RTX 4090, but all of them are using the 12VHPWR-to-8Pin connection, and Nvidia officials are investigating the problem.
