Sources say Samsung plans to reduce the proportion of smartphone production in Vietnam to 40% next year.

CTOnews.com, Nov. 9, according to the Electronic Times, Samsung will continue to diversify its global production base. The proportion of smartphone production in Vietnam will fall from 50 per cent this year to 40 per cent next year. At one point last year, Vietnamese factories accounted for 60% of Samsung's total smartphone production.

Rising labor costs in Vietnam and a slowdown in the global consumer market are believed to be the main reasons behind Samsung's move.

According to a previous report by South Korean media ETnews, as early as the end of 2021, Samsung Electronics had transferred part of its smartphone production line in Vietnam to the Kamei plant in Guiwei City, Gyeongsangbei Road. This is a special measure taken by its main factories in Vietnam and other countries after production setbacks affected by the COVID-19 epidemic.

CTOnews.com reported that Samsung closed its smartphone factory in China in 2019.
