Since Twitter was bought by Elon Musk for $44 billion, people can see a series of news about Twitter being "transformed" by Musk almost every few days.

Not long ago, Twitter launched a new paid authentication system, in which any user can get Twitter's "Blue V" certification for as little as $8 a month, and Musk himself is determined to stick to the system-but recently, the system has become a copycat show for netizens.

Just yesterday, some early risers witnessed a spectacle after turning on their phones. A Twitter-certified Nintendo account posted a picture of Mario showing a "friendly gesture".

Of course, this is not the real Nintendo official, but a fake account that bought a paid authentication, and although the fake account was quickly banned, the magical picture was preserved by quick-eyed netizens.

It can be said that Gao imitated very attentively. Not only did a game company encounter this kind of "stand-in attack", but the V Society also released a preview of the continuation of the old game "Ricochet" (released in 2000) without its knowledge, and even took the mysterious game "Neon Prime", which is still unreleased by the V Society, as a suffix directly.

The "Ricochet" game screen (right) and careless users witnessed R Star being banned after releasing the latest news on GTA 6, directly thinking that it was some mysterious curse, or that it meant that GTA 6 did not exist at all, unaware that the R Star account was just another certified high-profile account.

In fact, this imitation fraud is very easy to see. Twitter can change its nickname at will, but the user name is unique, so it is clear at a glance whether the user name is true or false. But Gao Fang often only needs to change the order of one character to be dazzling, and now coupled with the certified "Blue V" icon, it is enough to scare most users.

Of course, Twitter has also made some responses, according to the latest official statement, only Twitter accounts signed up before November 9 can be paid for authentication.

It remains to be seen whether the delaying strategy will be effective. Although it is not known when Twitter will re-open the paid authentication function to new users, Twitter officials do need to treat it cautiously before that. After all, in the face of netizens' sense of integrity that should not be underestimated, there are probably a lot of things for officials to consider besides simple high imitation.
