Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform live shot: feel the posture of the new flagship core
Qualcomm held the 2022 Snapdragon Summit this morning, at which its new flagship product Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform was officially launched, which has been improved in all aspects compared with the first generation. Now CTOnews.com brings you a physical atlas of the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.
The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform is manufactured using a 4 nm process, resulting in a 35% improvement in CPU performance and a 40% increase in energy efficiency compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The new Kryo CPU uses the new 1 / 2 / 2 / 3 architecture, and a very large core Kryo Prime core (based on Cortex-X3) runs in 3.2GHz to provide high single-threaded performance. There are also four performance cores running on 2.8GHz to better handle multithreaded workloads. Finally, there are three efficiency cores with a frequency of 2.0GHz.
At the same time, the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 now supports LP-DDR5X, up to 4200MHz (higher than LP-DDR5 's 3200MHz), and storage supports the new UFS 4.0.
In terms of GPU, the new generation of Adreno GPU has a 25% performance improvement and 45% power efficiency improvement, as well as hardware-accelerated ray tracing support for Snapdragon platform.
From the physical point of view of the chip, the chip size of the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform is not much different from that of the previous generation, only about the size of a 50-cent coin. It is hard to imagine that such a small size can release very strong performance to drive our smartphones to complete a variety of high-load tasks.
Qualcomm said that Asustek ROG, Glory, iQOO, Motorola, Nubia, Yijia, OPPO, Red Devils, Sharp, Sony, vivo, Xiaomi, Star Age / Meizu and ZTE will all launch phones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and the first phones based on this processor will be available by the end of this year.
