Amazon AWS Cloud Computing plans to invest 2.5 billion euros in Spain

CTOnews.com Amazon announced that it will invest 2.5 billion euros (about 18.4 billion yuan) in Spain over the next 10 years, which will support 1300 full-time jobs in the country.

In addition to accelerating digital transformation and creating local technology communities, this investment will likely add € 1.8 billion to Spain's GDP.

Cloud computing refers to the on-demand provision of IT resources over the Internet. This eliminates the need to purchase, own or maintain any physical data centers and servers. Therefore, users can obtain technical services such as storage, databases, etc. from service providers on demand.

Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon's cloud computing division, currently accounts for the largest share of cloud platform adoption worldwide. Microsoft (Azure) and Google (Google Cloud Platform) followed.

Amazon claims that the expansion of its cloud computing services in Spain will drive innovation, giving businesses greater choice to run applications and deliver services to end users from data centers located in the region.

CTOnews.com has learned that Amazon AWS Cloud Services spans 93 Availability Zones across 29 geographic regions worldwide. The company has announced plans to add 18 Availability Zones and six AWS Regions in Australia, Canada, India, Israel, new Zealand and Thailand.
