Jean-Louis Gassee, a former Apple executive, thinks iPad is going downhill: the application scene is getting narrower and narrower
CTOnews.com, Nov. 23, former Apple executive Jean-Louis Jean-Louis Gassee said recently that the iPad business is going downhill. He thinks the highlight of the iPad was in 2014, and then overall sales were declining. The more important reason behind the decline is that consumers don't know what iPad can be used for.
"in order to really create a new category of devices, tablets have to do some critical tasks better," he says. They have to be better at doing something that really matters, so that certain tasks can achieve maximum value only in tablet form, which cannot be reflected in laptops and smartphones.
CTOnews.com learned that Gassee thinks a lot of people want iPad to work like Mac, which makes the iPad application scenario narrower and narrower. However, Apple CEO Cook disagrees with this view, saying many times in public: "iPad expresses our views on the future of personal computing most clearly."
