The new version of Model 3 has been fully added, and the biggest highlight is that the whole department has been replaced with the M3P battery provided by Ningde era, with at least 10% improvement in battery life.
Earlier, there were media reports that Chinese-made Model Y decided to replace the Ningde era M3P battery with a 72-degree battery pack. Ningde Times will supply Tesla with M3P batteries in the fourth quarter of this year, while the version of Model Y will be available early next year.
According to official data, the energy density of Ningde M3P battery is about 15% higher than that of lithium iron phosphate battery, which can reach 210Wh/kg, and its cost is similar to that of lithium iron phosphate battery and lower than that of ternary lithium battery. Earlier, Wu Kai, chief scientist of Ningde Times, said at the World Power Battery Congress that Ningde era will divide new energy vehicles into three market segments: 1000km battery life, 700km battery life and 300-500km battery life in the future. In the mainstream new energy vehicle market of 700km, the solution of Ningde era is M3P cell + Kirin battery structure. These two technologies can be used in combination.
At present, the Model 3 produced by Tesla Shanghai Super Factory is equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries provided by Ningde Times. The comprehensive operating range of the sold version of CLTC is from 556km to 675km. After upgrading the battery pack in the whole system, it is expected to break through 600km and 700km. Sources also revealed that Tesla still has no plans to use batteries supplied by BYD in vehicles produced by the Shanghai super factory.
Due to the low cost of M3P battery in Ningde era, there is room for price reduction in both Model 3 and Model Y after the battery package is replaced. Tesla did not comment on the above news.
