Google mysterious project "Pitchfork" exposed: teach AI to write code and steal programmers' jobs

According to reports on the evening of November 23, Beijing time, Google is working on a new mysterious project: training artificial intelligence (AI) to write code, as well as subsequent Bug fixes and code updates, according to reports. Analysts say the project could reduce corporate demand for human software engineers in the future.

The project, codenamed "Pitchfork" within Google, was originally set up in the "X" research department of Alphabet, Google's parent company, and has now entered Google Labs, meaning the project has received high-level attention, according to people familiar with the matter.

Pitchfork is currently part of AI Developer Assistance, a new division of Google Labs, led by Olivia Olivia Hatalsky, who was in charge of Google Glass and other "moon landings".

According to internal documents, the purpose of the Pitchfork project is to "use machine learning (ML) to train code to write code and to repair and update itself." First, let Pitchfork learn the programming style, and then write new code based on what you have learned.

A Google spokesman said: "the Pitchfork team is working closely with the company's research team to explore different application cases to help developers."

A Google spokesman also said that Pitchfork's original goal was to build a tool that would update Google's Python programming language code base to a newer version. But over time, the goal of the project has shifted to a common system that reduces the need for humans to write and update code while maintaining code quality.
