OBS Studio version 29 Beta supports AV1 hardware coding for AMD and Intel graphics cards

According to the latest Beta update log, OBS Studio 29 Beta version will also support AMD and Intel graphics card AV1 hardware coding, the three major manufacturers basically support complete.

According to the update log on GitHub, OBS Studio 29 Beta 1 supports AV1 encoding for AMD RDNA3 GPU and Intel Arc GPU, Intel HEVC encoding, and support for native HEVC and ProRes encoders on macOS.

CTOnews.com learned that in 2018, the Open Media Alliance (AOMedia) released a new generation of video coding AV1 (AOMedia Video Codec 1.0). The coding, developed jointly by the Open Media Alliance, encodes 4K UHD video with an average compression ratio of 30 per cent higher than that of similar encoders. At present, Firefox browser Firefox, clip Professional Edition and other software have announced support for AV1 codec, and Microsoft Windows 11's Android subsystem WSA also supports AV1.
