Using Tesla Megapack, Pillswood, Europe's largest battery energy storage project, was officially launched.
CTOnews.com, November 25, Harmony Energy Income Trust announced the official launch of the Pillswood project, which will become the largest battery energy storage system (BESS) in Europe after completion. The Pillswood project consists of Tesla Megapack (about 3 MWh each), with a maximum storage of 196 MWh and a maximum output of 98 MW, providing two hours of power supply at full power.
The Pillswood project, located in Cottingham, East Yorkshire, UK, has been successfully powered on. The project will "provide critical balancing services" for the grid, with the goal of further replacing fossil fuel power plants with renewable energy.
"operated through Tesla's algorithmic trading platform Autobidder, which has a good track record in managing Holes Bay and Contego projects over the past two years, these two existing battery storage projects were also jointly developed by Harmony Energy Limited and FRV," according to the Pillswood project.
CTOnews.com learned that Harmony Energy Income Trust plans to deploy five more similar projects in 2023, probably in partnership with Tesla, indicating that the BEES market is growing rapidly.
