CTOnews.com, Nov. 26, PiTalk is a LTE HAT extension for raspberry pie that achieves crowdfunding goals on the Kickstarter platform. The HAT is compatible with all raspberry pie SBC except Compute Modules and Picos, and players can use it to build their own smartphones because it supports voice calls and text messages.

PiTalk, developed by embedded systems engineer Lavender Singh (Ravinder Singh) from London, England, can continue to use raspberry pie without Wi-Fi coverage. PiTalk is built around the Quectel EG25-G Cat 4 module, with a maximum downstream transmission speed of 150Mbps and a maximum uplink speed of 50Mbps, and is backward compatible with earlier network types, and also supports global positioning (GPS, GLONASS, Beidou / Compass, Galileo, and QZSS).

CTOnews.com learned that in addition to homemade phones, raspberry pies using the HAT can also be used as Wi-Fi hotspots, live streaming devices or Internet access. PiTalk can be used for digital signage to upload new content to signage without Wi-Fi network or physical networking.

Singh is also developing a USB 4G encryption dog for Windows and Linux systems, which is connected through USB. All of his 4G products need nano-SIM cards and rely on USB ports for power. PiTalk supports global shipments, which are expected to begin in February 2023.
