With a total length of 739 kilometers and a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour, the West-Chongqing high-speed railway is divided into two sections: Xi'an to Ankang and Ankang to Chongqing, and the connection line between Xiyu high-speed railway and Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed railway will be built at the same time.

Among them, the main line from Xi'an to Ankang has a total length of 171 km, which started in June 2021, with a construction period of 5 years; the new Ankang-Chongqing section has a total length of 478 km, and the connecting line between Xi'an-Chongqing high-speed railway and Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed railway is 90 km long, with a construction period of 6 years.

CTOnews.com learned that the Ankang-Chongqing section of the Xiyu high-speed railway has 11 stations: Ankangxi, Langao, Chengkou, Fanfeng, Xuanhanan, Dazhou, Dazhu, Guang'an East, Hechuan East, Beibei Nan and Chongqing West, of which the west of Chongqing is the existing station and the other is the new station.

The railway department said that the Xiyu high-speed railway is an important part of China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed rail network from Beijing to Kunming and Baotou and Yinchuan to Haikou. After the project is completed, it will be connected with Chengdu-Chongqing high-speed rail, Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed rail, Chongqing-Kunming high-speed rail, Xi'an-Yan'an high-speed rail, Xi'an-Shiyan high-speed rail and other lines.
