CTOnews.com, December 3 (Xinhua)-- Hyundai Motor is planning to apply Ningde-era battery pack technology to its new electric vehicles next year, according to The Elec.

The technology, which puts battery units directly into the battery pack without the need for modules, will first be used on new light-duty electric vehicle models, such as the Kia Ray, according to sources.

However, the car giant will use nickel-based batteries instead of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. Tesla also uses CTP technology from Chinese battery makers, whose vehicles in China use lithium iron phosphate batteries.

Ningde's CTP technology has entered its third generation, and the company claims that its latest iterative technology is 13% denser than the traditional 4680 battery.

The technology also absorbs impact by placing vertical structures and materials between batteries to improve durability.

Hyundai's move will mean that more batteries made by the Ningde era will be used in the future, while batteries from LG energy solutions and SK On may be reduced.

The South Korean carmaker also plans to import more batteries from its Chinese battery suppliers for car models sold locally in South Korea.

CTOnews.com learned that Ningde Times said earlier that the integration of the CTP 3.0Kirin battery system reached a new global high, with a volume utilization rate of more than 72%, an energy density of up to 255Wh/kg, and an easy range of 1000 kilometers for the whole vehicle. Kirin batteries will be put on the market in 2023. According to reports, Ningde era through the world's first cell noodle cooling technology, Kirin battery can support 5 minutes of fast hot start and 10 minutes of fast charging.
