XfceCTOnews.com has learned that Linux Mint 21.1 Beta has significant design changes in the theme look and feel. The Mint team chose brighter colors, but reduced the number of colors to ensure users weren't too distracted. Several theme colors have been removed from the panel in this update, and menus and folders now default to yellow. Mint defaulted to a blue Aqua theme, instead of the mint color it had previously defaulted to.

If you don't like Mint's default theme and theme color, you can also reselect the theme after entering the desktop. The "Mint-Y-Legacy" theme is set by default on the system theme, and the user can select it to switch to the previous theme.

Another change is the desktop icon. The Home folder has been removed from the desktop and can be opened from the main menu or by using the "Super + E" shortcut. There are now only installation icons on the desktop, items you place on the desktop, files placed in ~/Desktop, and installed devices.

This update also introduces cursors, including Mint-X, Mint-Y, Mint Legacy, Breeze, Papirus, Numix and Yaro.
