Musk was shortlisted for time magazine's person of the year in 2022, which he won last year.

CTOnews.com, December 7 (Xinhua)-- Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been shortlisted for time magazine's person of the year award in 2022, and Musk now has the opportunity to win this enviable honor for the second year in a row because he was named time magazine's person of the year last year.

Time magazine drew a lot of criticism when it named Musk as its person of the year last year, especially among American progressives, including Democratic adviser Kurt Bardella, who called the award an "absolute shame."

Still, time magazine pointed out last year that Musk's achievements through his company were remarkable. Musk's rocket saved taxpayers billions of dollars and revived America's space dream.

Musk was one of the hottest figures in the press in 2022, and Musk actively revamped the social media platform Twitter during his $44 billion acquisition.

If Musk does win time's person of the year award in 2022, he will be one of the few people to win the coveted award several times. Franklin D. Roosevelt became time's person of the year three times.

Time magazine is expected to announce the winner of the 2022 person of the year award on Wednesday, CTOnews.com has learned.
