Launched as soon as December 13, Apple Satellite with the help of SOS service will soon be launched in the UK.

CTOnews.com news on December 8, citing foreign technology media MacRumors reported that Apple's emergency satellite help service will be launched in the UK as soon as December 13. Sources say British emergency workers have been informed that calls via the satellite emergency function will be transferred to local emergency service channels from Tuesday, December 13.

Apple's Emergency SOS via Satellite emergency satellite help service was launched in the United States and Canada last month, and Apple said at the time that it would be extended to France, Germany, Ireland and the UK in December.

Apple did not provide a specific date at the time, but now it seems that December 13 is reasonable. It is unclear whether the expansion will be limited to the UK or whether it will also expand to France, Germany and Ireland.

CTOnews.com has learned that iPhone 14 users running iOS 16.1 can use the emergency satellite help feature in supported countries and regions and can use it free of charge for two years. This feature allows iPhone users to make emergency calls outdoors using a satellite connection without a cell phone signal or WiFi connection.
