Teams users allow users to create communities for specific groups, such as leisure sports teams, event planning committees, parent-teacher associations, small businesses, etc.

CTOnews.com learned that Microsoft wants to provide more value to its users in addition to building Microsoft Teams into a sophisticated communication application for professionals. Through community capabilities, Microsoft hopes to extend its reach to a variety of industries.

In terms of Communities functions, Microsoft not only supports video / voice calls and private chats of community members, but also has access to event scheduling, attendance tracking, visual map location sharing, group calendars and file / photo sharing. In 2023, Microsoft plans to further enrich this feature by introducing SignUpGenius, which will make it more community-friendly through volunteer management and event planning.

Joining Communities requires only a free Microsoft account, which is attractive to those who already have an account. This feature is open to free Microsoft Teams members.
