In the second quarter of this year, Twitter regarded its 237.8 million users as "monetized daily active users" (MDAC), meaning they were active on the platform, and Twitter was showing them ads.

In fact, Musk has previously said that inactive accounts will be deleted from Twitter. He said in November that accounts that had been inactive for 15 years would be cleared.

This time, it is not clear how long Twitter will delete inactive accounts. But Mr Musk hinted in October that accounts that had been dormant for more than a year could also be at risk.
