CTOnews.com December 12-The global smartphone market is not seeing encouraging numbers as inflation rates hit record highs in many countries due to sluggish demand after the recession. In this case, a research report by market research firm TrendForce points out that Apple iPhone will beat Samsung Electronics in terms of market share in the fourth quarter of 2022.

According to TrendForce data, global smartphone market shipments in the third quarter of 2022 were 289 million units, down 0.9% from the previous quarter and 11% from the same quarter last year. Apple phones are set for huge growth, with its market share expected to soar from 17.6% in the third quarter of 2022 to 24.6% in the fourth quarter. This will help Apple overtake Samsung as the global smartphone market leader in the fourth quarter of 2022.

CTOnews.com understands that in terms of shipments, Samsung increased only 3.9 percent from the previous quarter to ship 64.2 million units. BusinessKorea pointed out that continued inventory pressure, low demand and semiconductor shortages will further reduce Samsung's shipments in the fourth quarter, which will affect its position in the global smartphone market.

Apple, on the other hand, shipped 50.8 million iPhones in the third quarter of 2022 and showed a solid growth trend. Apple's market share is expected to continue to grow in the fourth quarter due to increased demand for the iPhone 14 / Pro series. Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo, currently ranked third to fifth, are expected to lose some market share in the fourth quarter of 2022. TrendForce also predicts that Chinese smartphone manufacturers will face significant challenges in the future. This is due to shrinking demand for smartphones in China and slow economic growth in India.
