Bob Dylan: streaming makes music "too smooth and relaxed"

On Monday, Bob Dylan reportedly said streaming media made music "too smooth and easy."

Dylan, 81, is currently the 46th best-selling artist of all time, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. He has more than 9 million monthly active listeners on Spotify streaming platform. His latest album, Rough and Rowdy Ways, will be released in 2020.

In 2022, Dylan sold his catalog of recorded music to Sony. It is reported that the transaction value reached 150 million to 200 million US dollars.

During Dylan's 60-year career, he has witnessed changes in the music industry and the way music is consumed. In 1962, when he released his first album, music was only available on radio or vinyl, and cassette tapes were not introduced until the late 1960s.
