Google's YouTube wins NFL's "Sunday ticket" broadcast rights in 2023
CTOnews.com, December 23 (Xinhua)-- YouTube and the National Football League (NFL) announced today that NFL Sunday Ticket (Sunday tickets) will launch in YouTube Primetime Channels and YouTube TV in 2023.
According to the Wall Street Journal, people familiar with the matter have previously revealed that YouTube will receive the right to broadcast NFL Sunday Ticket at an average price of about $2 billion (13.98 billion yuan) a year.
Currently, DirecTV owns Sunday Ticket home and commercial broadcasting rights and pays NFL an average of $1.5 billion (about 10.485 billion yuan) per season. YouTube has acquired home broadcast rights for a period of seven years, worth about $2 billion a season, according to the person familiar with the matter.
CTOnews.com learned that YouTube is one of Google's pillar businesses, generating more than $28 billion (187.6 billion yuan) in advertising revenue last year. In the third quarter of this year, YouTube's advertising revenue was $7.071 billion (about 49.992 billion yuan).
