Lenovo: the little red dot will exist forever on the ThinkPad notebook.

CTOnews.com, December 25, one of the classic designs of Lenovo ThinkPad notebooks is the TrackPoint (pointing stick), which is called a "little red dot" because it is a round red dot. The little red dot has become part of the ThinkPad brand image itself, and even appears in the trademark. Dell and Hewlett-Packard notebooks used to have similar "little blue dot" designs, but now they are rarely seen, leaving only Lenovo to stick to it.

On the question of whether the little red dot will disappear, Jerry Paradise, vice president of Lenovo, said in an interview with Japanese technology website PCWatch on the 30th anniversary of ThinkPad: "We believe that as long as ThinkPad continues to exist, TrackPoint will exist forever. This is our commitment to our customers, and we believe it is still an iconic part of ThinkPad brand design."

CTOnews.com learned that when asked why the ThinkPad X1 Fold did not have a little red dot, Paradise said customers' feedback to Lenovo was that they wanted TrackPoint back. As a result, the new ThinkPad X1 Fold 16 has brought back the iconic little red dot.
