CTOnews.com, December 28, after the Alpha and Beta versions in early December this year, the documentation Foundation today released the first candidate version of the open source office suite LibreOffice 7.5. The documentation Foundation expects to release two more candidate updates in January next year, while the official version is expected to be released in the first week of February.

CTOnews.com learned that the main contents of LibreOffice 7.5 include:

LibreOffice greatly improves support for dark, high-contrast system themes. Themes that are compatible with dark colors and high contrast can help increase LibreOffice's productivity on Linux, macOS, and Windows platforms.

Rotation and scaling gestures are supported when using the touchpad.

Font embedding on macOS is supported.

Fix many problems in text layout processing and editing engine

LibreOffice's PDF export filter adds support for embedding color fonts using color layers and color bitmaps, such as for emoticons. PDF also supports embedding variable fonts and applying font changes to glyph shapes.

LibreOffice 7.5's Writer (word processor) adds a new plain text type content control.

Writer improves a variety of bookmarks.

LibreOffice Impress now supports clipping videos of media shapes.

A set of default table types has been added for Impress and Draw.
