CTOnews.com, December 31, according to The Korea Times, Samsung Electronics Executive Chairman and President Lee Jae-yong has returned to South Korea after a 10-day business trip to Southeast Asia. During his itinerary, Samsung executives visited Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. According to reports, the purpose of his visit to the three countries is to "determine the company's next sustainable growth driver in the coming decades."

While the goal of the entire trip may be to look for new business opportunities, one of the main reasons for Mr Lee's visit to Vietnam was to attend a project ceremony to celebrate the completion of the company's $220 million research and development centre in Hanoi.

The ceremony was held on December 23. "the R & D center in Vietnam will not only enhance the competitiveness of the country's industry, but also strengthen bilateral cooperation between South Korea and Vietnam," Lee said at the ceremony. CTOnews.com learned that after the ceremony, Mr Lee visited the company's mobile phone and display factory in Hanoi to boost the morale of local staff. During his visit to the factory, he also reviewed the company's medium-and long-term development strategy.

Mr Lee then visited Samsung SDI in Malaysia. However, the details of his visit to Singapore are not clear. When he arrived at South Korea's Gimpo International Airport on Friday, Mr Lee was surrounded by reporters and asked for his views on business prospects in 2023. Without going into too many details, Lee Jae-yong said: "I will do my best. Thank you for your hard work."
