For technical reasons, they began to provide AOSP's default camera application Camera2 from LineageOS 19, but the default application experience is poor, and it does not meet the needs of users.
Therefore, in this LineageOS version, LineageOS launched a new CameraX camera application called Aperture, which greatly improves the imaging level compared to the previous version.
Aperture implements several functions that Camera2 lacks, such as:
Auxiliary lens support
Video frame rate control
EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) are fully set
Level meter
LineageOS 20 also brings many new features and enhancements, such as merging security patches from April 2022 to December 2022 into LineageOS 17.1-20, updating WebView to Chromium 108.0.5359.79, completely redoing the volume panel in Android 13, and supporting global quick setting of lights.
In addition, the new version optimizes and upgrades calendars, photo albums, recordings, browsers, system updates, Android TV, setup wizards, etc., and adb_root services are no longer associated with build type properties, making them better compatible with third-party ROOT systems.
The new system merge script has been overhauled, greatly simplifying the Android security bulletin merge process and simplifying native system devices such as Pixel.
