CTOnews.com, January 5 (Xinhua)-- Askern Medical Practice, a general practitioner clinic in Doncaster, UK, sent a terrifying "Christmas greeting text message" to about 8000 users during the Christmas holiday last year, saying that the user had been diagnosed with "invasive lung cancer and metastasis" (aggressive lung cancer with metastases).

CTOnews.com learned that the text message was sent to the agency's patients (said to be about 8000) on December 23, 2022, and asked them to fill out the DS1500 form. This form is used to help terminally ill patients speed up their access to benefits because they may not have time to go through formal channels.

An hour after the message was released, the clinic issued a follow-up text message apologizing. "Please accept our sincere apologies for the text message sent earlier. The last text message was sent incorrectly. Our message should have been:'we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New year'. If you encounter an emergency, please contact NHS 111," the text message was quoted as saying.
