CTOnews.com, January 9-the Financial Times quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that the UK had resumed negotiations to ensure that London played a role in the planned initial public offering of Arm, a chip designer owned by SoftBank. Two people familiar with the matter called the meeting "very constructive", while another called it "positive".

British Prime Minister Sunak also met with Rene Haas, chief executive of Arm, in Downing Street last month, and Softbank Corp. founder Masayoshi son attended the meeting by video, according to people familiar with the matter.

Arm and Softbank Corp. had no comment.

CTOnews.com reported that Masayoshi son told shareholders in June last year that he supported a US listing of Arm because most of the UK chip design company's customers were listed in the US, although he stressed that no decision had been made yet.
