Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
CTOnews.com, January 9, Windows 11 has previously displayed recommended applications in the start menu, and now it seems that Microsoft plans to do the same in File Explorer.
Overseas blogger @ XenoPanther dug up the latest versions of shell32.dll.mui and propsys.dll.mui files and found a new feature in the folder options window and a new check box called "Show recommendations" in the privacy section of the "General" tab.
There is no more information about this feature, so exactly how it will work is unknown. After turning on the feature, recommended files and folders may be displayed, or Microsoft may use it as another way to push ads, after all, the company has previously displayed banner ads in File Explorer.
However, the idea of recommending random files by opening file explorer Windows 11 seems strange, so this feature looks more like an advertising-related feature. Fortunately, users can disable recommended content in file browsers.
CTOnews.com learned that Microsoft had earlier considered displaying recommended site ads in the start menu, but later decided to give up the idea. Windows 11 build 25272 removes site ads, leaving only recommended files and applications in the start menu.
