CTOnews.com January 14 news, the British regulator Ofcom has confirmed that telecom operators no longer provide fax services. Ofcom recently revised the Universal Service obligation (USO) to cancel the fax machine service. USO requires operators such as BT and KCOM to provide telephone services at affordable prices.

Ofcom's last revision of USO dates back to 2003, when many consumers still used fax services. But in 2023, few people in the UK will use fax services anymore. By eliminating this requirement, Ofcom can reduce costs for operators such as BT and KCOM.

Ofcom said the fax service would not stop supporting it immediately, but recommended that UK users use e-mail and other methods to transfer documents.
