CTOnews.com, January 15, according to CCTV news, the construction of high-energy synchrotron radiation light source (HEPS) undertaken by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has made great progress. The high-energy synchrotron radiation light source intensifier located in Beijing Huairou Science City was fully connected on January 13.

When the extraction conditions are met, the beam is timely drawn out and injected into the storage ring. The HEPS intensifier adopts a 4-fold symmetrical FODO magnetic focusing structure. The arc consists of 132precollimating units (including magnets, vacuum and beam testing equipment), 128bipolar magnets, and straight sections include injection and extraction equipment, high frequency, magnets, vacuum and beam testing equipment. The number of components is large, the vacuum connection section is numerous, and the arrangement is compact.
The installation tasks of intensifier equipment include pre-collimation, tunnel installation, precision collimation, vacuum connection and packaging, etc. The full-line penetration of the intensifier marks the completion of the on-line equipment installation and the entry into the equipment debugging stage. After successful debugging, the HEPS intensifier will become the first intensifier in the world with high-energy reinjection function and beam accumulation.
High-energy synchrotron radiation source (HEPS) is one of the ten major scientific and technological infrastructure identified in the 13th five-year Plan of the country's major scientific and technological infrastructure construction. It started construction in Beijing Huairou Science City in June 2019, with a construction period of 6.5 years. After completion, HEPS will be the first high-energy synchrotron radiation source in China and one of the fourth generation synchrotron radiation sources with the highest brightness in the world.
