Apple contract manufacturers Foxconn and Pegatron have announced that they will expand their operations in Southeast Asia this year.

CTOnews.com, January 16, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily, Apple contract manufacturers Foxconn and Pegatron both said on January 15 that they would include Southeast Asia in their 2023 expansion plans.

Liu Yangwei, chairman of Hon Hai, Foxconn's parent company, said yesterday that the group continued to expand in the Chinese mainland region, the Americas and Southeast Asia, with new customers joining this year and more yuan of business, and its overseas layout will continue to bear fruit.

However, Foxconn did not specify which Southeast Asian countries it plans to expand in. In terms of electric vehicles, Hon Hai has established production bases related to electric vehicles in Taiwan, the United States, Thailand, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.

CTOnews.com learned that for this year's capacity layout in non-Chinese mainland regions, Pegatron publicly announced that capital expenditure this year will reach $300 million (about 2.013 billion yuan)-$350 million (about 2.348 billion yuan), roughly the same as last year, mainly for plant expansion plans in Southeast Asia and Mexico.
