CTOnews.com January 17 news, Sensor Tower latest data shows that the overall revenue of South Korean mobile games began to decline in 2022, to 5.3 billion US dollars (currently about 35.669 billion yuan). Android users saw the sharpest drop in spending, at 12%.

In terms of revenue share, iOS users and Google Play users accounted for 20.4% and 79.6% respectively. In terms of downloads, South Korea's mobile game market downloaded 520 million in 2022, down 5.2% year-on-year. Android mobile game downloads fell 8.3%, while iOS mobile game downloads grew further by 8.3%.

At the same time, iOS and Google user download share is 21.1% and 78.9% respectively, compared with 2021, iOS market share has increased.

As the largest mobile game market in South Korea, RPG games contributed more than 60% of local revenue share in 2022. In 2022, South Korea's most downloaded game category is still ultra-casual mobile games, but compared with 2021, ultra-casual game downloads have dropped significantly, more than 20%.

Sensor Tower said that in 2022, there were 34 Chinese mobile games that broke into the Top 100 of South Korea's best-selling mobile games, with a total revenue of $850 million (currently about 5.72 billion yuan), accounting for 21.7% of the total revenue of Top 100 mobile games.

In terms of downloads, Chinese sea publishers are also more focused on South Korea's medium and heavy mobile game market layout due to South Korean players 'special enthusiasm for medium and heavy mobile games. In 2022, 75% of the products were shortlisted in the Top 20 of Korean mobile game download list.
