CTOnews.com, January 19 (Xinhua)-- the first battery-powered locomotive "tailored" by CRRC for Thailand recently held a launch ceremony at Shizi Grand Central Station in Bangkok, Thailand, marking the official launch of the locomotive and will be put into use in the near future.

According to CRRC, with the continuous development of rail transit industry, energy-saving and environment-friendly locomotives are increasingly favored by countries all over the world. Compared with traditional diesel locomotives, new energy locomotives have the advantage of zero emission, which put an end to environmental pollution. According to the application conditions of Thailand and based on the design idea of "internal power integration", CRRC fully considered the use of reliable, environmentally friendly and advanced energy saving to tailor this product for Thai users, and successfully realized locomotive manufacturing and delivery.

CTOnews.com learned that the locomotive was exported to Thailand by CRRC Dalian in November last year. The battery-powered locomotive will save more than 40 per cent in energy costs and is the first new energy locomotive exported by CRRC to Southeast Asia.
