Apple is developing smart displays based on iPad: controllable smart home, FaceTime chat, etc.
CTOnews.com January 19, Bloomberg reported that Apple is designing a new display for smart home management. The device will be a low-end iPad that can be used to control HomeKit devices, streaming video, FaceTime calls and more.
The device is designed to be mounted to a wall or other object using magnetic fasteners, so it fits more into the home than the iPad. This product will compete with devices like MetaPortal or Amazon EchoShow.
Bloomberg previously said the device is similar to a HomePod and Apple TV combination and is suitable for home use rather than travel. CTOnews.com understands that Apple is also considering larger smart home displays and is working on a product that combines Apple TV, smart speakers and FaceTime cameras, but the project has suffered setbacks.
Apple aims to launch an iPad-like smart home display in 2024.
