CTOnews.com, January 27 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Microsoft is working to rebuild its Edge browser and provide a more modern version with better user interface UI and more productivity features to help Edge stand out in the Chrome-dominated market, according to a new report.

Edge Phoenix is an internal concept that Microsoft has been developing since the summer of 2022. CTOnews.com learned that some of these new features are already available in the Microsoft Edge preview. For example, recently discovered split-screen views, fillets and Mica material processing.

Other concepts and ideas of Edge Phoenix have not yet emerged. Windows Central reports that Microsoft is developing a tabbed activity center feature to provide customers with internal information about browser use. Think of the tab activity center as a localization of the screen time feature on iOS (also similar to digital health on Android).

Microsoft is also considering turning Edge into a system-wide password manager (the browser already has one of the best password managers of its kind) and allowing users to start and run Edge during initial Windows setup.

Edge's slow year-on-year growth in the desktop market suggests that Microsoft needs to strengthen its work and provide customers with more attractive products. Edge Phoenix may be a new force to help Microsoft reinvigorate its browser.
