"We plan to start testing other aircraft systems in 2023 for certification and mass production by the end of 2024. some of these systems have passed the bench test."

According to public information, the Irkut MS-21 (also known as the MC-21 and Jacques-242) is a Russian twin-engine narrow-body airliner developed by Irkut Group, a subsidiary of the Russian United Aviation Manufacturing Company, and the Yakrev Design Bureau. The first prototype was unveiled on June 8, 2016 and made its maiden flight on May 28, 2017.

This is the second large civil aircraft project developed by Russia after the Sukhoi superjet 100 after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. It is a medium-and long-range narrow-body twin-engine airliner.

It is worth mentioning that the Sukhoi Superjet 100 is currently the main domestic airliner in Russia, but it usually can hold less than 100 passengers. The medium-range Irkut MS-21 / MC-21 has a potential capacity of more than 200 people and uses a Russian-made Perm PD-14 turbofan engine.
