CTOnews.com January 28, the PipeWire project has released version 0.3.65 of PipeWire, a new and stable update to open source servers for handling audio and video streams and related hardware devices on GNU / Linux systems.

PipeWire 0.3.65 adds support for Bluetooth MIDI devices-WirePlumber is also required, and Compress offload support is added using tinycompress, which allows ALSA to be used on some devices to decode compression formats in hardware.

CTOnews.com learned that another feature in PipeWire 0.3.65 is a new native module combination stream that allows users to create 5.1 devices from 3-channel stereo cards or to direct output to multiple receivers at the same time.

The ALSA plug-in has also made some improvements, such as new rules for adjusting buffer settings in Davinci Resolve, resulting in better latency, better property handling, support for cubic volumes, and for configuring new alsa.volume-method.

Among other improvements, this version promises to better match the jack 1 true behavior by setting the jack.merge-monitor option to true by default, DMABUF supports GStreamer, lists devices in PulseAudio API with unsupported formats (invalid format), and uses native module combination streams as module combination receivers.

In addition, PipeWire 0.3.65 brings back deprecated symbols, improves compatibility between old servers and new clients, increases the ability to demultiplex streams for Compress offload through FFmpeg in pw-cat, adds custom prefixes to adapter ports, and improves the handling of multicast loopback in the module-rtp-sink module.

Bluetooth LE audio has also been fixed in the new PipeWire version, which also improves compatibility with some Bluetooth devices that send stray signals, such as Sennheiser HD 350BT headphones.
