CTOnews.com, February 1, according to the latest list published by the US Trademark and Patent Office, Apple today obtained a new technology patent, expanding the existing smart keyboard for the iPad Pro, which can be equipped with a keyboard, touch panel and second screen through a new hinge system.

Contrary to today's single-angle design, the new multi-wheel hinge system will provide users with more flexibility to adjust the angle of the iPad according to their preferences.

CTOnews.com learned from patent descriptions and design sketches that the next generation of smart keyboards may have multiple rollers, gasket elements and fixed structures to balance and counteract the weight of iPad by increasing friction between rollers and gasket elements.

The hinge assembly joins one or more with the spacer element (or connecting element) to form a roller element (including a cylinder), wherein the spacer element is positioned between adjacent roller elements.

Apple described in the patent that the magic keyboard can provide a reaction or holding force depending on the angle from which the iPad is used. And the force provided by the hinge assembly varies with the angle of use of the iPad. In other words, compared with the existing clever control keyboard, the new hinge system described in the patent can provide more stable and greater support.
