CTOnews.com February 3 news, Apple today announced the first fiscal quarter of fiscal 2023 results, the fiscal quarter covers October, November and December 2022. Despite a 5% revenue decline compared to the same period last year, the company said it set a new record for first-time Apple Watch purchases in the first quarter of 2023.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said on a conference call with investors that nearly two-thirds of customers who bought Apple Watch in the last quarter were making their first purchases. Apple introduced three new Apple Watches last year: Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Ultra, and the more affordable second-generation Apple Watch SE.

Still, Apple's sales in the wearables, home and accessories categories fell 8% year-over-year in the first quarter. The company said the figures were due to a challenging macro environment. CTOnews.com understands that this category includes products such as Apple Watch, AirPods and HomePod.

But Apple also had some other good news, announcing on its investor call that it had reached the milestone of 2 billion active devices and that the services category had received record revenue.

CTOnews.com understands that Apple's fiscal first quarter revenue fell 5% year-over-year, the largest quarterly revenue decline since 2016.
