According to Apple's update to HomePod 16.3.1, the update includes overall performance and stability improvements. Updated instructions for tvOS 16.3.1 are not currently available, but may be similar to those for HomePod 16.3.1.

CTOnews.com learned that tvOS 16.3.1 updates can be updated through the settings application on Apple TV and go to system > Software updates for OTA updates. Apple TV users who turn on automatic software updates will automatically upgrade to tvOS 16.3.1.

HomePod updates are automatically installed on HomePod, unless the feature is disabled, and HomePod can also be updated manually in the Home application.
